We excavate to solid subsoil, lay heavy-duty geotextile fabric, and compact a minimum of 6 to 8 inches of crushed aggregate in multiple vibrating plate passes before laying bedding sand and edge restraints.
Do retaining walls require engineering and drainage?
Yes. In the Pacific Northwest, hydrostatic water pressure behind retaining walls is the primary cause of failure. We backfill all retaining walls with clean crushed rock and perforated drain pipes tied to positive gravity outlets.
Can outdoor firepits be converted to natural gas?
